Osteopathy is a distinct approach to healthcare based on an established system of clinical diagnosis and osteopathic theory. It is supported by a firm foundation of Osteopathic Principles which have been revisited, challenged and revised over many years.
They are too involved to discuss in depth here. That being said they explain why Osteopaths consider: A patient as a dynamic fusion of mind, body & spirit – any change in one affects the others Body structure and function to be reciprocally related – once again any change in one affects the other.
Patients have an enormous potential for self healing. Osteopaths focus on the structure of the body using gentle manipulative techniques to correct & ‘normalise’ joint and tissue imbalances and therefore function.
Osteopathy treats the person as a whole and not just the disorder. In essence it essentially aims to facilitate the body’s considerable ability for self repair. Osteopaths are trained to use a wide range of techniques which are prescribed to best meet the needs of each unique patient.
Contrary to a long believed myth, back and neck problems rarely if ever completely resolve on their own. In addition, many people are unfortunately told that they will have to “learn to live with it”.
Nothing could be further from the truth. The British Medical Journal stated recently, that if left untreated, 80% of patients suffering back pain were still having problems as much as a year later.
Here at The Back Care Clinic, your problem will be explained to you in a language you will understand.
